We’re thrilled to welcome a brand new site to the Practical Motorhome Nightstops scheme. What’s more, our new Nightstop is now our most southern overnight location, increasing the reach of our bargain-break network yet further.
A small and friendly campsite, Mousehole Camping sits in Paul, a village just a few miles south of the town of Penzance in Cornwall. And, unusually for a campsite, you’ll find it at local football club Mousehole AFC.
What is a Nightstop? It’s simple. It means the site has been accepted into our scheme, which is run in association with The Motor Caravanners’ Club, and up to five motorhomes per night can pitch there. Facilities may not be five-star, but we know you motorcaravanners are independent, self-sufficient types, and the chance to stop somewhere cheap and handy for the night is just what you need on tour.
Our Mousehole Camping Nightstop is open all year round (as is the campervan/motorhome-only campsite, tents permitted between June and August). If you’re one of the five ‘vans permitted to stay here per night, you’ll enjoy the use of a good range of facilities. There are fresh water and chemical disposal points, rubbish bins and hardstanding pitches, as well as showers and toilets, including some with access for wheelchair users. This is also a dog friendly campsite and there’s an area where you can exercise your furry, four-legged companions. And if you like it so much you want to extend your break, you can stay here for up to seven days.
The campsite is run entirely by volunteers from the Mousehole AFC committee and all monies raised are reinvested into the campsite and the club, to the benefit of the community.
“We’re really excited to be part of Practical Motorhome’s Nightstops scheme,” said Club Chairman, Tim Richardson. “We heard about it from one of our visitors this summer and we are very much looking forward to welcoming readers on-site in the very near future.”
Stay here and you can treat yourself to a meal and a drink or two at The Kings Arms at Paul – and as this pub is just 500 metres away, there’s not far to walk back to your ‘van afterwards. If you’d like to explore further afield but would rather leave your motorhome on site, there’s a bus stop within 300 metres.
And without doubt you will want to take in the local area. There’s a child friendly beach within a mile, the famous and spectacular St Michael’s Mount is just a few miles away, and you’re less than 10 miles from Land’s End. If you fancy a round of golf, Cape Cornwall Golf and Leisure is about a 25-minute drive from Mousehole Camping, while Penzance itself is around a 10-minute drive away and it’ll take you only about half an hour to drive to pretty St Ives on the north Cornish coast.
So next time you visit Cornwall in your ‘van, why not overnight at Mousehole Camping? You can be assured of a very warm welcome.
