One of the things I love most about motorhoming is all the stuff that can go with it – there’s always a must-have accessory or gadget, and I really enjoy looking for new bits of kit for my ‘van. I’ve just bought a new motorhome, too, so the latest Amazon Spring Sale has come at exactly the right time for me (if not for my credit card).
There are a wealth of products on sale, so it’s taken a bit of time to go through them to find the deals that are really worth looking at. I’ve done it now, though, so here are the bits and pieces that I’m tempted by over the next few days, before the sale ends on 31 March.

TIMBER RIDGE Compact Camping Storage Cupboard was £75.99 now £59.99
I’ve got a 6m, Fiat Ducato-based campervan, so storage is at a bit of a premium inside. I do, however, have a driveaway awning, so I think this neat unit will be a great addition to it. The three shelves inside will be ideal for holding those bits of kit I don’t have room for in the ‘van, and I really like the pockets on the side, too. Best of all, it will fold down neatly for easy transportation, and comes with its own carry bag, too.

Dometic PerfectCoffee MC 052 Five Cup Coffee Maker was £54 now £45.88
You can’t beat a decent cup of coffee in the morning, particularly when you’re out on tour, but good coffee makers are expensive and can be too powerful for mains hook-up. Not so this neat little number from the experts at Dometic: not only can it be powered on 12V (so it’s useable even when I’m touring off grid), it also comes with a special fixing kit to mount it onto a motorhome’s work surface, and the glass jug is secure when you’re on the road. As such, I’m seriously tempted by this one.

Dometic 31-litre CoolFreeze Portable Electric Compressor was £247.60 now £210.45
The previous owner of my motorhome chose a compressor fridge over an absorption example and, while that will mostly suit me fine, there are times when I can envisage needing more fridge space. So this Dometic cool box is tempting – at 31 litres it’s not far off the size of my fridge, and I reckon it could sit nicely between the cab seats when we’re pitched up on site. It’s powered by either mains or 12V, too, for extra practicality.

Gritin LED Head Torch (two-pack) was £14.99 now £8.99
I had a head torch similar to this until relatively recently, when it went AWOL – it was always useful for various jobs both inside and outside the motorhome, particularly chores such as emptying the cassette toilet during the darkness of winter. This seems like a great deal to me: the Gritin head torch not only comes with three different modes, and also has an adjustable strap so you can get the fit just right, you also get two in the pack. Bargain!

Bagail Microfibre Travel Towel was £13.99 now £11.89
I’m a huge fan of microfibre towels – I recently converted a couple of regular towels in the ‘van to microfibre, and I’d never go back. They take up so much less space and dry really quickly, too.
So I’m tempted by these, which look like a good price at the moment: they come in a variety of colours and sizes, so you can easily find the right one to suit your needs. What’s more, they also come in a zippered case – handy if you want to pack them up to take to the beach.

Longzhuo Felt Plate Holder was £14.99 now £11.99
There are few things more irritating when you’re driving to your next destination than the sound of clattering from the rear of the ‘van, caused by your crockery rattling around. So I think this holder might make a good buy, to keep all of my melamine plates neat and tidy, and also prevent them from falling out when the locker door is opened.
Each plate is separated by a divider; the manufacturers claim that eight plates can be stored inside the unit, but melamine plates are thin, so I reckon I might be able to squeeze in a few more.

Take the Slow Road: Spain and Portugal was £22 now £17.16
I really like the books of author and motorhomer Martin Dorey, particularly the Slow Road series – I have the France version, and it’s helped me plan numerous trips. So this is now in my Amazon basket – Take the Slow Road: Spain and Portugal promises to reveal the most scenic drives through both countries, and is specifically written for those travelling (slowly) in a motorhome or campervan. Martin reveals the best places to stay, too, and attractively illustrated maps are also included to help make planning your trip that bit easier.

Silentnight Deep Sleep Mattress Topper was £25 now £18.92
I’ve got a Silentnight mattress topper on a bed at home, and it’s fantastic – it really helps you get a more comfortable night’s sleep – so I’m sorely tempted by this one for my campervan. Silentnight is a well-known brand, so I’m sure it will be good quality, and the fact that it’s both hypoallergenic and machine washable are big plus points, too. The additional straps on the side are also handy, meaning it’s less likely to slide around when we’re on the road to our destination.
