If you had to pick your favourite seaside destination in the UK, where would you choose?
As Brits up and down the country think about where to tour over the upcoming bank holiday weekend, many will be planning to head to the beach in their motorhomes.
With many of us dreaming of taking a dip in the sea, McCarthy Stone has surveyed 2,700 Brits to reveal exactly what the UK’s most popular seaside towns are.
Salcombe in Devon proved to be the most popular spot, with the area’s stunning harbour proving irresistible to nearly a fifth of the voters (18.5%).

In second place came Weymouth, with 16% finding the beaches enjoyable. Weymouth was actually announced as the UK’s number one beach in the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Awards in 2017, so it’s not the first time it’s received recognition.
The UK’s favourite seaside destinations are:
- Salcombe, Devon – 18.5%
- Weymouth, Dorset – 16.1%
- Whitby, North Yorkshire – 12%
- St. Ives, Cornwall – 11.7%
- Bamburgh, Northumberland – 10.4%
- Cromer, Norfolk – 9.1%
- Shanklin, Isle of Wight – 6.2%
- Deal, Kent – 5.9%
- Worthing, West Sussex – 5.7%
- Hastings, East Sussex – 3.9%
One thing’s for sure – there’s an abundance of glorious seaside towns to choose from!
