Dometic has launched a new range of poled and air awnings for both caravans and motorhomes at the October NEC show that puts sustainability to the fore.
The October show is not only a great chance to see the latest tourers but is also a prime opportunity to shop for the best motorhome awning, with a wide range of accessories on offer. In the case of the new Dometic awnings, the 33 models in the Tour range are all made with new Weathershield Tour material, which replaces the Weathershield Pro fabric the company has been using for the past nine years.
The 300D ripstop polyester fabric is dope-dyed in a process that uses 80% less water than traditional polyesters, which in turn reduces energy consumption.
The ripstop weave in the fabric has been designed to be more durable too.
The awnings themselves have gone through some design changes, with upgraded panoramic windows to allow in more light. Curtains now have a softer fabric with better daylight shielding. They run on a slide track that has been designed to be easier to open and close, and come with hooks to make them easier to remove for washing.
The Tour range as a whole comes in a brighter colour with matching air poles, valves and connectors. The Residence AIR Tour and Club Air Tour DA awnings also come with a three-sided canopy over the door to provide shelter from the rain.
Other highlights to see at the show include the CV X5, a new addition to the Xplore campervan range – the Fiat Ducato-based ‘van has a garage that is always accessible and a raised rear bed. Also making their NEC debut are the Eriba Car 600 and 602, which both come on a VW Crafter and have different sleeping arrangements.
