Dethleffs is simplifying Globetrail for 2025, and expanding it with a new model that features a drop-down bed at the rear. The brand has also added a new family-based overcab motorhome to its line-up.

Globetrail proved a popular range at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2024, with the Dethleffs Globetrail 540DR Advantage named our pick for the best motorhome under 6m.

For the new season, the Globetrail 640HR, 6.36m long and based on a Fiat Ducato, has a drop-down transverse bed at the rear that when fully raised provides a storage area that is 133cm high – plenty high enough for a bicycle. An opening partition at the front should also allow enough space for bulkier longer items such as a kayak.

The bed itself is 2m long and 1.56m wide, while the two single beds that can be set up underneath it are both over 2m long. An optional fifth berth can be made out of the front dinette. The vehicle uses diesel heating for its motorhome heating system and comes with an 84-litre fridge.

The Globetrail range as a whole will no longer be divided into Classic or Advantage spec, as in the past. Instead, it will feature just nine models variously based on a Citroen Relay, Fiat Ducato or VW Crafter.

There will also be a new overcab which could be a contender for fans of the best six berth motorhome. The Family A 7872-2 sleeps six with a transverse bed at the back and a double that can be made out of the front lounge in addition to the overcab bed. With a 40cm deep double floor – suitable for all-year-round touring – it has an MTPLM of 5400kg and runs on a Fiat Ducato with an Al-Ko chassis.

The German company is also bringing out special editions of its Just Camp low-profile range. The Active models come with exclusive decals on the outside and flush-fitting windows, a sun roof, cab blinds and an additional garage door and a window in the habitation door.

Dethleffs new models are coming out just as fellow Erwin Hymer brand Bürstner reveals new family motorhomes in its line-up too.
