Luxury motorhome manufacturer Carthago is splitting its C-Tourer into two for 2025.

The split is part of the popular motorhome brand‘s aim to reduce vehicle weight. This has led it to shave off as much as 100kg this season from the MIRO figure on some models in the last year’s rage, which included the Carthago C-Tourer I 145 RB LE Superior, which was shortlisted three times at the Practical Motorhome Awards 2024.

Weights have been reduced by, for example, installing smaller 60-litre fuel tanks as standard on Fiat Ducato models and making gas bottle compartments of polypropylene.

So for Carthago in 2025 there is a C1-Tourer range of seven A-class motorhomes and four low-profile models available on a “lightweight” or 3.5 tonne chassis on either a Fiat Ducato or a Mercedes Sprinter. There are also 13 A-class and 11 low-profile models on a “comfort” or 4.2-tonne chassis, with a choice of the same base vehicles.

There is also a C2-Tourer range, initially only of A-classes, on Mercedes Sprinter but with an Al-Ko low-frame chassis. These five models all have a narrower width of 2.17m. Carthago says this narrowing means it can provide A-classes on a Sprinter chassis measuring over 7m in length but still coming in with a MTPLM of 3500kg.

The C2-Tourers, which like the C1 models will first go on public display at this year’s  Caravan Salon, also have a new front profile. This is designed to look like a motorcycle helmet, with a curved windscreen with no joints to give a better view, tinted side windows, and extra details on either side or the hexagonal grille to make the vehicle look wider than it is.

Chic e-line models also come with a new exterior with a similar front profile.

All A-class Carthagos this season are also being finished in “clear white” to bring them into line with low-profiles. Their radiator grilles feature “C” branding.
